History and Background of the Conference

The German MBA Conference is a forum for German-speaking MBA and PhD students in the United States. The conference has the important goals of providing relevant content, offering networking opportunities among participants, and providing career-advancement opportunities through access to top German and international companies.

Relevant Content: The conference is a forum for participants to discuss relevant themes with featured speakers and guests. Topics include the economic situation in Germany, job outlook for MBA’s in Germany, and comparison of the U.S. and European education and economic systems.

Networking: The conference brings students from different business schools together to get-to-know each other as well as to build meaningful relationships. The program promises to be thought-provoking as well as fun and entertaining.

Career-Advancement: The interaction between students, speakers and sponsors offers a unique networking opportunity to uncover new job possibilities for conference participants. Both informal socializing events and a resume book will facilitate getting to know the other participants and sponsor firms.

A strong, geographically-focused network is indispensable. The German MBA Conference, which brings together participants from many universities across the country, is the key to fostering important relationships. Italian and French MBA students in the U.S. have held such conferences for many years. As a result, these groups have strengthened their student and alumni networks.

The German MBA Conference exists since 2003 and has been highly successful in the past 3 years. Over 100 energetic students from multiple American universities as well as exciting speakers, and leading German and international firms came together to make the past events at the Harvard Business School (2003), the Wharton School (2004), and the Chicago University (2005) an unforgettable experiences.

The German MBA Club emerged out of the 2003 Conference. The 70 founding members of the Club had the goal of forming a formalized forum to network with other attendees from the conference. An online database has been an important building block of this project.

Sponsoring: In previous conferences, APAX, A.T. Kearney, BCG, Degussa, Deutsche Post World Net / DHL, Merrill Lynch, SAP and Siemens showcased their firms as sponsors.

The overwhelmingly positive feedback of the participating firms proves the value of the German MBA Conference.
